Google I/O Extended Hackathon '15 Android Wear App
BeSafe App came to light at the Google I/O Extended Hackathon ‘15 for Android Wear that took place at the GDG Porto Alegre. The goal is: make the city safer. Is an audacious goal but we belive it’s important to take the first step. We put together two developers friends with two designers friends to have fun during this day. The idea is to have a collaborative network of unsafe places. As the user walks through the city he is notified when approaching an unsafe area and places where they were reported as unsafe by other users. For development, we use very interesting structures, such as GeoFences , Parse , Maps on Wearable among others. Of course we go through difficulties , such as using the Maps API in Wearable , which was available for less than 36 hours. During the day and in the face of difficulties, we chose to focus on the most important feature: inform the user that they are entering an unsafe area. And we did it :)
After good hours of development, we integrate the backend, the mobile and the clock to deliver (or attempt to) a little more security for users. It was quite fun and besides coffee and pizza, the GDG staff managed to film our main feature running.
Many thanks to GDG staff that helped us all day to make it happen!
